We are happy to announce that the newest community feature of the Snap Store is here: Star Developers!

Background

In the Snap Store, we have a fantastic community where members can discuss topics in the forum, develop snaps and help others. Currently, the Snap Store has verified accounts; verified companies have a green tick by their name to show that the snap has come from a trusted source. However, snaps from individual users were not getting the same recognition, even if a lot of care and attention has gone into developing them. To address this and give recognition to individual users in the snap community, we introduced Star Developers.

What are Star Developers and how can I be one?

Star Developers receive a star by their publisher name in the Snap Store and for every snap that they publish. The idea behind this feature is to celebrate and highlight active, responsible participants of the community. Star Developers are representatives that others can trust to deliver high quality snaps and support others in the forum. It’s a feature open to any individual. With this icon, users will see your snap and know it comes from a trusted community member.

To become a Star Developer yourself, follow the policy here. Start a post in the forum with the policy category and tell us how you have contributed to the snap, or other open source, community. We enforce no strict rules or requirements that you must meet to become a Star Developer. We simply want to celebrate friendly faces in the community that develop and help others create high quality, maintained snaps for all.

If you have any questions, please reach out in the forum!
