Innovate at speed with AI. Stay secure and compliant with Ubuntu Pro

Date: 16-20 October 2023

Location: Dubai, UAE

Booth: Booth B31, Hall 26, DevSlam

Canonical is excited to attend GITEX Global 2023, the largest event in the Middle East. Generative AI, predictive analytics and multi-cloud environments are at the heart of a technological revolution.

At the conference, AI experts, solution architects and decision-makers will discover how to transform their organisation using open source tools. Canonical will focus on showcasing how Ubuntu Pro can help companies innovate at speed and with confidence across industries with secure, supported and compliant open source. From scaling your AI projects to building multi-cloud solutions, we will cover a variety of topics during the event.

Canonical at GITEX Global

GITEX Global is the world’s largest and most comprehensive tech event. This year will mark the 43rd edition. The five-day event covers a wide range of topics with tracks that focus on AI, IoT, cybersecurity and blockchain.

Our team of experts will travel to Dubai to give a talk about predictive analytics, demo some of the latest breakthroughs from the AI world, and share some exciting news about our portfolio. We will also be there to answer your questions about big data, AI, machine learning operations (MLOps), Ubuntu Pro and open source. We will showcase a wide variety of demos for different industries.

Everyone who visits our booth can interact with a conversational assistant to learn more about Ubuntu and Canonical. The AI is similar to ChatGPT, built fully with open source components.

Topics we will cover at GITEX Global include:

  • Predictive analytics, gen AI, LLMs and how open source empowers the latest innovations
  • Canonical MLOps and future plans
  • New partnerships in the AI space
  • Common challenges to AI adoption at scale
  • AI use cases within different industries

Join our talk on predictive analytics

Canonical’s Andreea Munteanu and Rob Gibbon will give a talk: “Engineering Tomorrow’s Decisions: Building Predictive analytics projects with open source”

Predictive analytics is used in various organisations to transform existing data into future decisions. Churn prevention, customer segmentation or risk modelling apply across various industries, from financial services to retail, telecommunications to public sectors. End users benefit from better experiences and increased productivity, while companies stay competitive in the market.  This presentation will cover how to build predictive analytics applications at scale, including ways to take advantage of the continuously growing volumes of data. We will discuss the main use cases of predictive analytics and how to roll them into your business, ensuring you leave the session geared with knowledge on how to apply predictive analytics within your company using open source tooling such as Spark or Kubeflow.

Making OpenStack accessible for human beings with Sunbeam

Sunbeam was launched in June 2023 at the OpenInfra Summit, Vancouver. This completely new OpenStack platform lowers the entry barrier for businesses with no previous cloud experience, helping engineers to break the ice with OpenStack immediately. Sunbeam incorporates almost ten years of Canonical’s experience in the cloud computing space, while modernising OpenStack operational experience based on cloud-native principles. Sunbeam comes with 10 years of commercial support and security maintenance for all LTS versions of OpenStack and can be installed in five simple steps.

Canonical OpenStack is the foundation of on-prem AI/ML projects. It is an enterprise-grade, highly scalable cloud platform, so organisations can start small and grow according to their needs, ensuring the best economics. It includes full support for various types of accelerator devices, including GPUs (with vGPU support) or DPUs. Canonical OpenStack has built-in multi-tenancy to run a dedicated MLOps cluster per tenant on top of OpenStack.

Hear about Charmed Spark first

Apache Spark is a free, open source software framework for developing distributed, parallel processing jobs. It’s popular with data engineers and data scientists alike when building data pipelines for both batch and continuous data processing at scale. Engineers can write Python or Scala code to develop Spark applications for ETL (extract-transform-load), analytics and machine learning.

Charmed Spark is an easy-to-deploy solution for Apache Spark on Kubernetes that makes the rollout of big data platforms painless.  It can run on the cloud and in the data centre, and includes a supported distribution of Apache Spark. With Charmed Spark, organisations will get up to 10 years of enterprise-grade support for Apache Spark with a choice of service level agreement – 24/7 or weekday. Make sure to visit our booth to hear about Charmed Spark – the solution will be launched during the event.

Secured and supported under one subscription: Ubuntu Pro

Our team will also be present to discuss Ubuntu Pro. Ubuntu Pro is an additional stream of security updates and services offered on top of an Ubuntu LTS.  The subscription expands Canonical’s ten-year security coverage and optional technical support to an additional 23,000 packages beyond the main operating system. It is ideal for organisations looking to improve their security posture, not just for the Main repository of Ubuntu, but for thousands of open-source packages and toolchains.

Canonical has an 18-year track record of timely security updates for the main Ubuntu OS, with critical CVEs patched in less than 24 hours on average. Ubuntu Pro expands this coverage to ten times the number of packages in the standard Ubuntu repositories. Patches are applied for critical, high, and selected medium CVEs, with many zero-day vulnerabilities fixed under embargo for release the moment the CVE is public.

As part of our global mission to amplify the impact of free software, we offer a free personal subscription to Ubuntu Pro that covers up to 5 machines, or 50 machines for active Ubuntu community members. Ubuntu Pro helps large enterprises empower their developers to use anything in Ubuntu with confidence, knowing it will be secured for ten years. The subscription also includes compliance certifications for standards like FIPS and HIPAA.

Find out how Canonical MLOps helps you innovate at speed with AI

Canonical’s MLOps solutions help enterprises roll out projects with fully supported and secured open source tooling. Professionals develop and deploy models using one stack, having the chance to both begin and scale AI initiatives without the burden of switching tools.

Canonical MLOps offers a modular end-to-end platform that covers the entire machine learning lifecycle. It is a suite of tools seamlessly integrated to facilitate model development and deployment It enables collaboration between team members, reproducibility and portability. It runs on any cloud environment, supporting multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments. Additionally, it gives you the freedom to run AI projects on any CNCF-conformant Kubernetes distribution. Canonical’s MLOps solutions come with 10 years of commercial support and security maintenance. Optionally, for organisations that lack the skills to maintain the platform, Canonical MLOps solutions can be purchased as a  managed service.

Missing Gitex? Catch us somewhere else on the roadshow

Canonical AI Roadshow is a series of events that will highlight generative AI use cases powered by open source software. The roadshow will take us around the globe between mid-September and mid-November to talk about the latest innovations from the industry, demo some of the most exciting use cases from various industries, including financial service, telco and oil and gas, answer questions about AI, MLOps, big data and more…
